Wirie

Version 1.2.1-alpha · in Tinkerie 1.5.2-alphaAlpha

Design your own circuit boards, even if you've never made one before.

In plain words

You pick parts like a Raspberry Pi Pico, a sensor and a button, draw which pins connect, and Wirie lays out the copper tracks for you. Then you can send the board off to be made, etch it at home, or build it on cheap stripboard with Wirie's step-by-step plan.

Your first five minutes

Try this first

  1. Open the example

On the welcome screen, click Example project: a Pico weather station with a screen, sensor, button and LED.

  2. Look around

Click a part to see its pins. Point at any button and teaching mode explains what it does.

  3. Press Auto-route

Wirie draws every copper track for you, on both sides of the board, ground included.

  4. Try Boardie

Switch to the Boardie tab and press Do it all to see the same circuit on stripboard.

Features

PCB: real circuit boards

Design a two-layer board, then have it made.

  • Place parts from a library of 700+, or make your own with the Part Creator
  • Every module pin is labelled (GP4, SDA, 3V3…)
  • Smart connect wires a sensor to your microcontroller in one click (I²C, SPI, UART, power)
  • Board templates: Raspberry Pi HAT and Zero pHAT, Pico, Nano and ESP32 carriers, round boards
  • Two-layer auto-router with wider power tracks and vias. It routes ground too, so every connection is visible
  • Ground fill that's checked to really reach every ground pin, design-rule check, realistic board preview

Boardie: stripboard and perfboard

Build the same circuit without ordering a PCB.

  • Places the parts on stripboard or perfboard for you
  • Works out where to cut the strips and where wire links go
  • Prints a step-by-step build plan

Pinnie: interactive pinouts

26 boards and chips, explained pin by pin.

  • Pico, ESP32 / S3 / C3, ESP8266, Arduino, Raspberry Pi header, ATmega, ATtiny, Teensy, STM32…
  • Hover a pin to see PWM, ADC, I²C, SPI, UART and touch, plus the gotchas
  • Filter by function, and put the board straight onto your PCB

Powerie: battery planner

Find out how long your project runs on a battery.

  • Battery and regulator presets
  • Each part's awake and sleep current, plus a wake-up schedule
  • Regulator losses and dropout, a runtime estimate, a breakdown chart and tips
  • Imports the parts from your PCB

Calcie: electronics maths

The calculators every maker keeps looking up.

  • Ohm's law, resistor colour codes, E-series values, LED resistor
  • Voltage divider, 555 timer, RC/LC filters, battery life
  • Wire gauge, PCB trace width, series/parallel, capacitor codes

Getting it made

Everything a board maker asks for, in one zip.

  • Gerber files (copper, mask, silkscreen, paste, outline) and drill files
  • Bill of materials and pick-and-place files
  • Ready for JLCPCB, PCBWay, OSH Park and Aisler
  • 1:1 printouts for etching at home, and a PNG picture of the board
  • Case data for Makie, so you can 3D-print a case that fits
Before you start

Good to know

Parts marked ! in the library vary between makers. Measure your real part, or print the board 1:1 on paper and check, before you order boards.
