Scopie

Version 3.0.0-alpha · in Tinkerie 1.5.2-alphaAlpha

Turn your PC into the screen of an oscilloscope.

In plain words

An oscilloscope draws a voltage as a line moving over time, so you can see signals: a PWM output, a serial message, a noisy power supply. Scopie gives your scope a big, clear screen on your PC, and every button explains itself. No scope yet? Demo mode has 13 practice signals.

You'll need: A USB or bench oscilloscope, or try Demo mode.

Scopie
Demo mode: a square wave and a sine wave, with automatic measurements.
Your first five minutes

Try this first

  1. Start Demo mode

No scope needed: pick a practice signal like the probe calibration square.

  2. Press Auto setup

Scopie picks the volts and time per division so the signal fits the screen.

  3. Drag the trigger line

The trigger holds the wave still. Drag the line to where the wave crosses.

  4. Read the measurements

Frequency, peak-to-peak, RMS and more appear under the screen. Press F1 for the beginner's guide.

Everything it does

Features

Everyday scope controls

The front panel, on your screen.

  • Run / Stop, Single, Auto setup and Default setup
  • Up to 4 channels: volts/div, ×1/×10/×100 probes, DC/AC coupling, invert
  • Trigger on rising, falling or either edge, with a level line you drag
  • Roll mode on streaming scopes

See more of the signal

Display options for tricky waveforms.

  • Lines or dots, sin(x)/x smoothing, averaging
  • Colour-graded persistence, like an analogue scope
  • XY mode

Measure and analyse

Numbers without counting squares.

  • 13 automatic measurements, plus phase and delay
  • Time and voltage cursors
  • FFT with 5 windows, to see the frequencies in a signal
  • Maths channel: A+B, A−B, A×B

Save and share

Keep what you captured.

  • PNG screenshots and CSV export
  • Open a CSV by dropping it on the screen
  • Save and load setups

Good to know

On USB and bench scopes the probe's ground clip is connected to your computer's ground. Never connect it to mains, or anything plugged into mains, without proper isolation.

USB scopes work on Windows, Linux and Raspberry Pi. On a Mac, Scopie works with network bench scopes, CSV files and Demo mode.
