Meterie

Version 1.1.0-alpha · in Tinkerie 1.5.2-alphaAlpha

A big, friendly multimeter display, with graphs and logging.

In plain words

Many multimeters can send their readings to a computer. Meterie shows them in big digits you can read across the room, draws a graph over time, and saves everything to a spreadsheet file. Guided wizards test batteries, sort resistors and check LEDs.

You'll need: A multimeter with a PC link, or try the demo.

Meterie
Live: a big readout, statistics and a graph over time.
Your first five minutes

Try this first

  1. Connect your meter

Plug in its USB cable, switch the meter's PC link on, then open Meters and press Scan.

  2. No meter? Start a demo

Meters › Demo & manual offers practice signals like a battery discharging.

  3. Watch the Live page

Big digits, a bar graph, statistics and a graph of the last few minutes.

  4. Learn the modes

What am I measuring? shows which jacks to use for each mode, with safety tips.

Everything it does

Features

Live readout

Like a premium bench meter.

  • Big seven-segment digits with AUTO, AC/DC, HOLD, REL and low-battery symbols
  • A bar graph, plus min, max, average, peak-to-peak and more
  • Charge in mAh and energy in Wh when you measure current or power
  • REL zeroes a channel, for example to remove test-lead resistance

Graphs and logging

See and keep every reading.

  • Every meter and maths channel on one timeline
  • Zoom, pan, select a range, add markers
  • CSV logging every reading or at a fixed interval, starting or stopping on a threshold

Alarms and maths

Let the PC watch for you.

  • High and low limits with a sound and a flashing readout
  • A continuity beep on the PC
  • Power, resistance, energy, charge, or your own formula

Guided wizards

Step-by-step tests.

  • Battery capacity and internal resistance
  • Resistor and capacitor sorter (E6 to E96, tolerance bins)
  • LED forward voltage, with a colour guess and series resistor
  • Solar panel and power supply load test, with I–V curves

Camera mode

For meters with no PC link at all.

  • Point a webcam or a phone camera at the display
  • Meterie reads the seven-segment digits
  • Readings are only accepted when two frames agree

Good to know

Meterie shows what your meter measures and adds no protection. Never measure mains or high voltage unless you're trained, and your meter and leads have the right CAT rating.

On Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi, Meterie works with USB-serial meters like the HoldPeak HP-90EPC. HID-cable meters, Bluetooth and Camera mode are Windows-only for now.
